About

Ben has worked at the Free Speech Union since 2021, where he is a Director. He and his colleagues are on the frontline of the free speech wars in Britain. His day job is to help people survive the process of being cancelled. Ben's first book, Island of Strangers: Diversity, Decline and Free Speech in Crisis, was published by Constable in 2026.

He is represented by the Hamilton Agency. Ben completed his PhD at the University of Warwick, which he wrote on the experiences of ex-Muslims in Britain.

He also holds an MA by Research on political polarisation in America, and a BA in History, both from the University of Exeter. His interest in free speech issues began there, where he was elected as President and Chairman of the Debating Society, which was founded in 1893.
